Taekwondo is a traditional martial art, originating in Korea, as well as a modern sport. It is recognized as one of the most systematic and scientifically analysed physical activities in the world. It is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing our spirit and life through training our body and mind in a disciplined environment. It has also become a global sport that has gained an international reputation, and stands among the official ‘games’ in the Olympics, quickly developing in technology, including the current progressive introduction of electronic protective equipment used in scoring. It is also a tier 2 (optional) Commonwealth Games Sport. (Abstract taken from World Taekwondo Federation)

Taekwondo has been particularly noted as a sport that is instrumental in assisting students’ all round development: physically, mentally and socially. While providing a sense of belonging within the friendly club environment, it is a holistic practice nurturing coordination, quicker reflexes, self-esteem, concentration, ethics and self-control. As such, the benefits overflow into other areas of our life, school, work and play.
